Vegan Sour Cream Nut Free

If you are looking for nut free and inexpensive sour cream alternatives, this is the one you can try! This vegan sour cream nut free is made of tahini and few other ingredients and it’s incredibly easy to make. After all of the ingredients are blended with an immersion blender, it becomes thicker and very creamy. The flavour of the tahini doesn’t overpower the whole thing and it’s so delicious!

No nut vegan sour cream

I always find cashew nuts very expensive and try find affordable ways to create other alternatives for cream and cake frosting. This vegan sour cream is made of tahini and is one of my favourite cream recipes.

I add this in potato salad as replacement of mayonnaise and put a spoon of it beside Mexican bean rice or Chili cone carne as an accompaniment sometimes. I put blobs of this sour cream in burrito wraps today with other fillings that was really yummy!

How to make the vegan sour cream nut free?

It’s super simple! Just put all of the ingredients except the oil in a beaker and pulse with an immersion blender until mixed. Then add in the oil and blend again for a few seconds until thick and creamy. This recipe makes enough amount for 3 to 4 people if you are using it for wraps or making potato salad with it. However, if you have leftovers, store in a clean container with a lid and keep in the fridge up to 3 days.

Note: I don’t recommend to use this as a replacement of ordinary sour cream for baking or cooking with heat.

Ingredients
  

  • 65 g tahini
  • 60 ml water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic puree optional
  • 1 tbsp oil I used sunflower oil

Instructions
 

  • Put all of the ingredients except oil in a beaker and pulse with an immersion blender until mixed.
  • Pour in the oil and blend again until thick and creamy. Serve in wraps or as dipping sauce!

Notes

This tahini sour cream is delicious in wraps, pitta bread and served as dipping sauce but I don't recommend to use it for baking or cooking with heat as a replacement of ordinary sour cream.
