This homemade tortilla bread requires only a few ingredients that you might already have in your kitchen! soft, fluffy and simple, it’s perfect for making delicious wraps with any fillings.
Mix the flour, baking powder, salt together in a bowl. Add the oil, mix and rub into the flour using your fingers until it forms coarse crumbles.
Pour in the warm water and mix to combine using your hand and knead for a few minutes until it forms a soft and smooth dough.
Divide the dough into 5 or 6 rolls and allow them to rest for about 30 minutes with a cover on.
On a floured surface, roll each piece with a rolling pin into *a thin, 8 inch (about) circle.
*Heat a frying pan or a iron skillet until very hot and carefully place one rolled dough in.
*When you see bubbles start to appear after about 40 to 60 seconds, flip over and cook the other side for 40 to 60 seconds.
*Keep your cooked tortilla covered with a piece of clothes until ready to serve.
Notes
*Make sure it's very thin that you can almost see through. The size might be bigger than 8 inch if you are making 5 tortilla like mine but that's ok, it's easy to wrap with bigger ones :)*The pan should be very hot before you put in the tortilla, otherwise it will stick to the pan and won't cook nicely.*Please do not overcook the tortillas, they will be crunchy and too hard for wrapping when they are cooked too much.*Keeping the cooked tortillas covered helps them to stay soft.*Leftovers will keep in a covered container up to 2 days in the fridge. Microwave for 30 seconds to reheat as an easy option.
